On 21 May 2026, the Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a focus group bringing together representatives from 15 companies operating in sectors including construction, finance, production, and legal services.
The discussion explored current labour market needs, skills gaps, digital transformation challenges, and the role of entrepreneurship in vocational education and training (VET).
Participants highlighted a growing demand for advanced digital skills, communication and teamwork abilities, problem-solving, adaptability, and entrepreneurial thinking. Businesses emphasized that while many graduates possess theoretical knowledge, they often lack practical experience and exposure to real workplace environments.
The focus group also underlined the importance of stronger cooperation between businesses and VET institutions through internships, work-based learning, and long-term partnerships that better align education with labour market needs.
Participants stressed that digitalization and emerging technologies, including AI, are reshaping the workplace and require continuous upskilling of both current and future employees. The need to foster innovation, initiative, critical thinking, and entrepreneurship among young people was also strongly emphasized.
đŸ’¡ The recommendations gathered will contribute to strengthening VET systems, enhancing business-education cooperation, and supporting the development of future-ready skills for a rapidly changing labour market.
